About Mileka
Q: Who writes for Knocking it Off?
A: I do!
"Hi, everyone!" My name is Mileka Tilini. I am a home maker (p.s. I like to say "home maker" v.s. "stay at home mom" because I don't just "stay at home"...believe me...I'm pretty busy!!!) I have 6 kids, ages 12-3, 2 boys and 4 girls. Now you can see why I'm so busy. And just to top it off...we homeschool (because I'm not busy enough as it is...lol, just kidding). I am origionally from the town of Hau'ula located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I currently reside in Queen Creek (also known as San Tan Valley) in the wonderful state of Arizona. I love the heat so I guess Arizona is a good place to be.
I've been crafty all my life...in more ways then one...hehehe. I guess...as far as I can remember I would find whatever I could and make stuff: barbie doll clothes out of paper towels, sew clothing for myself, etc. As I got older I became a teacher by trade and used my creative skills in the classroom. I found my creativity being used a great deal for functionality.
Q: What is your style?
A: I would call my style o-sim-funk-lean. I love to organize. It's my therapy. Oragnizing makes things easier and simpler. I like things simple. I need things simple. My life is complicated.
In my life...if things are complicated, everything falls apart. Simplicity helps me to function. It's my personal mantra. Being able to function is a top priority in my life. When things don't function life gets complicated. Complication creates chaos and everything falls apart (thus...simplicity is key for me). I abhor, yes, abhor visual clutter (do you see a reoccuring pattern?). Visual clutter=chaos=complication=lack of simplicity=lack of function=life falls apart. Because I abhor visual clutter...I love clean lines. Lines are beautiful. If something is oraganized, simple, functional, and has clean lines...I'm all about it.
My style is:
Organization
+ Simplicity
+ Function
+ Clean Lines
